State-wide campaign against terrorism

Special Correspondent from MANGALORE:
The State unit of the Sunni Students' Federation (SSF) has announced that it will launch a State-wide campaign against terrorism in March. Abdur Rashid Sakafi Zaini Kamil, State president of SSF, told presspersons here on Wednesday that Muslim youth were, of late, being taken into custody for their alleged links to terror outfits. Mr. Rashid alleged that people who are reportedly involved in acts of terror are often portrayed as representatives of Islam. The State-wide campaign will shed light on where his religion stands on these and other vexing issues, Mr. Rashid said. The campaign will seek to counsel and guide Muslim youth who are being lured towards committing such anti-social acts. It will tell them about the true essence of their religion and how they should lead their lives. The SSF State committee, which will meet in Madikeri soon, will decide on the date of launching the campaign. Mr. Rashid said that a decision to conduct the campaign was taken at the recent State committee meeting in Chikmagalur.
